Having decent food and a good bed meant I slept really well. Up at 7.00am and off by 8.00am.
The morning was following a pleasant valley. Interesting forest, and some cork trees.
Day 2 (6 hours)
Howling gale last night, but slept OK. Dark at 7.00pm. Was asleep by 8.00pm, and awake from 1.00am, dozing on and off between howling wind gusts until light at 6.30am.
Leisurely start. Off by 8.00am to Vila do Bispo.
Day 1 (3 hrs)
Started the day with a Portuguese tart. Please feel free to make up your own jokes!
Arrival
Well, as expected Easyjet did their best to upset my plans. Only two planes were delayed – one to Alicante (15 mins) and mine (they claimed 25 minutes…which in airline terms means an hour).
It was an hour. And then just before pushback the captain comes on. We are having difficulty arming one of the emergency exit slides so can’t leave until it is fixed. Here we go I thought.
Ready to Go
Another hike planned to within an inch of its life.
Made a bit of a mistake with the flight. Decided to use Liverpool to Faro on Easyjet. They fly out in the mornings on weekdays, but in the afternoon on Saturday. Afternoon flight is good, as I can drive to the airport (3 hours) on the same day and do not need to stay overnight in Liverpool.
